TRAFFIC SAFETY Ken Lake streets and cul-de-sacs are city streets. Please obey traffic rules. Maximum speed limit in Ken Lake is 25 mph. License plate numbers of vehicles speeding will appear in the LCC Newsletter. Bicycles must obey the same traffic rules as motor vehicles. Pedestrians should walk on the side of the street that faces approaching vehicles allowing sufficient room for vehicles to safely pass. YARDS & LAWNS All residents need to maintain their yards. Shrubs and trees must be pruned so the branches do not interfering with pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Attractive yards are a gift to your community. ARCHITECTURE No building or other permanent structure shall be erected or altered until construction plans and specifications have been approved by the Architectural Committee for compliance with the LCC covenants. Construction must also meet the City of Olympia regulations. RECREATION Ken Lake I.D. badges must be worn and visible by residents and their guests enjoying the parks. These parks are for the exclusive use of residents and guests. If you have guests using our parks, you are responsible for your guest’s behavior. Park rules are available. BOATS LCC covenants prohibit the use of any kind of motor on any boat on Ken Lake. This includes electric motors or gas motors. (The only exception is when the lake is being treated.) Boats stored in the parks must be registered with LCC and labeled with an assigned LCC number. LCC registration requires owner contact information. Boats must be removed from the recreation areas during winter months as prevention against boats from floating into the outlet culverts during high lake water times. PRIVATE DRIVE Driveways and lawns are private property. Residents living at the end of cul-de-sacs would appreciate parents teaching children to not cut through private property to reach other cul-de-sacs. DOGS The City of Olympia has an animal control ordinance. Dogs running loose should be reported to Animal Services, (360) 943-3640. Dogs are not allowed in any of the community recreation areas under any circumstances. You are responsible to clean up after your dog. NEWSLETTER The Board will not accept anonymous letters, notes or phone calls for publication in the newsletter. GOOSE CONTROL The geese population problem experienced in the past is now controlled by use of a special type of air cannon. Shooting blanks at the geese to create a loud noise keeps them from landing. The sound is very similar to gun fire. The noise will normally be heard in the early morning or late evening. Once the molting season has passed, the problem abates, and so does the noise. DISASTERS The Community Preparedness Committee wants you to remember 3 things to do in a Disaster: 1. Display a red or green flag outside your home (green =”OK” and red=”need help”) 2. Report to your section captain or alternate for instructions and sharing your status 3. Help on one of the 6 response committees as trained or assigned. There are two communications headquarters, one on each side of the lake, and all available helpers should report to these sites.
