Boating

Ken Lake is only open to
non-motorized boats. Boats docked in one of
the two parks during the summer must be registered with the Lakemoor Community
Club. No boat may be stored in a park without displaying an LCC number.
Obtaining an LCC Boat Number
There
are a limited number of boats permitted in each park. Permits are issued on a first
come, first serve basis.
If you wish to leave a
boat at a park during the summer, contact Carol Gruen at (360) 352-9703.
Carol
will record your information, issue the authorization and vinyl numbers for your
boat. (A $10.00 fee covers the cost of the lettering) This registration only
needs to be done once by an owner, but you are responsible for maintaining
the boat identification.
If you sell your boat,
the new owner must register with the LCC, or remove the boat from the park.
LCC numbers are not automatically transferred between owners.
If you keep your boat at your home on the lakeshore, you should keep record
of the VIN number (vessel identification number) found on the stern of the boat,
and place your name, address, and a phone number on the side. Many boats
are lost each year, when they float away and drift ashore
elsewhere. By marking your boat it can be returned when found.
If you no Longer Use
Your Boat
If you no longer are using your boat, consider turning back your LCC number.
There is limited space in each park for boats, which has caused the Lakemoor
Community Club to set a limit on the number of boats permitted.
Currently there are a number of residents who
would like to place their boat in a park but are unable to do so because the
maximum number of boats has been reached. By relinquishing your number, it
allows the Community Club to re-issue the numbers. If you only use your
boat once a year, or less, please consider removing your boat and permitting
someone else a chance to enjoy the lake.
Abandoned or
Unregistered Boats
Boats left in
parks
without an LCC number will be remove after one month. Boats
without authorization, and without LCC numbers, are
considered abandoned and will be removed from the parks after 30 days.
Winter Removal
The lakeshore parks are
not a year-round storage area for boats. During the winter months,
(November 1 to March 1) your boat must be removed from the park and stored at
your residence. This allows for winter care of the park grounds and a chance
for you to
clean and paint your boat.
Currently there are a
number of boats which need to be taken home. If you require help moving your boat,
contact Jim Nieland at (360) 431-4581. He has a truck and will help you move it
from the park to your Ken Lake home free of charge.
Flood Season
Boats near the shore
should move be moved to high ground when the lake level rises. Last
winter a boat
floated into the culverts adjacent to the Tot Lot. This nearly caused disastrous
lake flooding. With great difficulty and danger to the volunteers (your
neighbors) the boat was removed.
